If your into Fantasy already, you know how talked up this book is. And I'll tell you, it is well worth the hype. A gothic, Victorian setting. A unique, card-based magic system. An infected FMC, possessed with a dark spirit who acts as an awesome side character. While this does not have explicit spicy scenes, the romance and passion between our main love interests has made them a favorite book couple of mine.
If you enjoyed books like A Court of Thorns and Roses & Fourth Wing I would highly recommend you give this one a go!

Like many people, I got the urge to read The Cruel Prince after seeing the incredible fanart on Pinterest by Frostbite Studios (if you haven't seen it, go look NOW!). Going in, I was fully expecting a world and Fae similar to ACOTAR. I was wrong. This novel oozes enchanted forest, fairytale whimsy and magic.
We follow the point of view of Jude, who wants to find her place and be a part of the Folk. Fierce, ambitious and clever, Jude will quickly become your new favorite FMC.
If your looking for a unique, true fairytale with a power-hungry main character, you need to add The Cruel Prince to your TBR.

Even though this is the first novel in a 3 book (so far) series, you can read House of Earth and Blood as a stand alone in my opinion. While I haven't read the rest of the series, the first Crescent City absolutely blew my mind and caused severe emotional damage.
With it's modern setting, curvy FMC, mail-carrier otters and murder-mystery theme, this story has a very different vibe from the majority of fantasy novels. You will fall in love with Bryce, Hunt, Ruhn and most of all, the spunky fire sprite Lehabah.
Fans of twists, slow-burn romance and devastating emotional damage, go pick up Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood!

If this book is still sitting on your TBR, put down what your reading and pick this up now! The 1920's Peaky Blinders vibe and complex characters will have you immediately hooked. (If you are someone who needs romance to enjoy a book, I would maybe skip this one)
This story of an impossible heist takes the point of view of multiple characters, each one as interesting as the last. With backstories that will make you love them even more. An incredibly clever and well written book. This one is sure to make it into your Top 10!

This was one of my top reads for 2025. If you are a lover of gothic vibes, Romantasy and incredible world building, Anathema is for you!
The visuals in this story had my skin crawling! It's so creepy at times and you just can't help but eat it up. Keri Lake gives us likeable characters, a unique magic system and top tier yearning. Like, holy damn. Zevander's quiet pining over Maevyth will have you falling in love with yet another shadow daddy.
And guys...he's 7ft tall.
